(Adventures of Superman: Fridolfs & Galloway)
The context here is that the boy wrote a letter to Superman asking him to stop the monster terrorizing their town. It turns out the boy has a mutation that turns him into the monster, and he called for Superman’s help, hoping Superman would kill him. Instead, Superman takes him back to STAR Labs and finds a way to control the mutation, although the boy’s life is still in danger.
The key line for me is that “Maybe you can save that monster too.” Because at his very best, Superman is all about saving the monsters inside us—of doubt and fear and loneliness—with hope and compassion.
